The Structural Engineers Ltd. (SEL), a private limited company was established as a proprietary concern with Engr. Md. Abdul Awal, a graduate civil engineer of 1977 from BUET, Dhaka as the proprietor. Subsequently the firm was converted into a private limited company in February, 1987. After inception of the company, it started making significant contributions mainly in the field of civil engineering & gathered wider experience by completing diverse structures including residential & office buildings, food godowns, hospital buildings, cyclone shelters, substation buildings, bridges etc. The company believes in the Japanese philosophy "Quality comes first, profit is its logical sequence" & gives prior importance to the maintenance of time schedule & quality of works.
The Managing Director, Dy. Managing Director & Senior Executives of the company acquired overseas training on Quality Management through AOTS, Japan. The company has its own architectural & structural design sections & uses computer aided design (CAD) & STAAD software for structural design. The company practices "Total Quality Management" (TQM) at its work places & has engaged a management consultant for imparting training to its work force on TQM. Banking on the reputation earned in the construction sector, the company entered into the real estate business vigorously in 1995. It has now quite a good number of projects at posh areas of Dhaka city with many satisfied clients. At SEL quality is considered as the key to success & survival.
